Accident Friday 7.05pm

Sitting in my dining room for dinner and hearing the sounds of horns going off is not unsual since the implementation of the bus lane but last night (27th April) the sound of horns was followed by a big bang. A car had stopped outside our house on the double yellow lines and was about to nip in to drop of laundry for the wife and a DVD or me (she can't/won't attemp to get on to our drive now as it is too difficult). Due to the space and narrowness of the outbound carriageway the car was half on and half off the road (tying not to affect traffic or pedestrians and failing on both accounts). This forced cars to overtake on to oncoming traffic. A car had decided to make this manouvre then realised that cars were coming towards him with little room to spare. He braked suddenly and a van crashed in to rear of his car. We have seen this potential accident happen a hundreds of occasions over the last few weeks. Deliveries on this road create chaos. We are not shocked it happened on a relatively quiet friday evening but relieved it did. If it had happened on a Monday morning for example the situation could have been so much worse. The volumes of traffic, types of traffic, especially HGV's together with and abundance of school kids walking to school could have made this accident catastrophic.
